Adding an email list sign up form on your site allows people to sign up to your email list directly.
To have your own email list you’ll need an account with a list provider like Mailchimp or Mailerlite (aff). So start by signing up with one of them. Mailchimp is the most popular and it allows you to have a free list with up to 2,000 subscribers.
Once you’ve created your email list account you may add the sign-up form to your site.
On a self-hosted WordPress site there are two steps:
- Copy the “embed form” code that’s provided to you in your email list account.
- Create a “Custom HTML” widget on your WordPress site and paste the code from step 1 into that widget. The widget may be placed in the sidebar or anywhere else you’d like it to be.
That’s it! People may now subscribe to your list right from your site.
To send emails to your list, log in to the email list account and use the tools there to compose and send messages.
